About The Weekend
Start a new DECADE OF DIFFERENCE!
The Shoppers Drug Mart® Weekend to End Women’s Cancers™ Benefiting The Campbell Family Cancer Research Institute at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is a Weekend you’ll never forget. It’s a Weekend to remember those lives we have lost to breast or gynecologic cancer and a Weekend to celebrate the lives we are saving. This is a Weekend creating hope for every woman’s future. With over $133 million raised, The Weekend has made groundbreaking strides in the fight against women’s cancers and thousands of lives have been saved along the way.
This year, Opening Ceremonies, Closing Ceremonies, and Camp are all being held in the iconic Rogers Centre! We'll be walking a new route with more waterfront and exciting new neighborhoods, and camp on centre field at Rogers Centre. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and we are so excited for you to be a part of it!
We walk in honour of those we’ve lost and the lives we’re saving each day. We’re recruiting old friends and making new ones in a joint effort to expand The Weekend Family and end women’s cancers once and for all. Some of us have been walking since The Weekend’s inaugural year in 2003, while others are just beginning their Weekend journey.
Whether you’re a Survivor yourself, walking for a loved one, or walking for all women, it doesn’t matter. Be a part of our celebration on September 7-8, 2013 and customize the best Weekend experience for you. Choose to enjoy the full 2-Day, 60km distance for maximum impact, or try the 1-Day, 32km distance. Do something bold in 2013, and walk in The Weekend!

The Walker Experience
For Walkers, the Weekend is an experience that begins the day you register to participate. This is when you will receive your very own web page and have access to all the tools available in your participant centre. This is when you’ll set your fundraising goal, start building your Circle for Hope, begin preparing for the physical challenge, and become a true part of our Weekend Family.
As a member of this family, you’ll be an important advocate for The Campbell Family Institute at The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre as you raise money and spread awareness of the important work they are doing for all women. You’ll also have many opportunities to meet and network with other walkers when you attend Get In Step Sessions, Training Walks, Foot Clinics, Pink Martini Nights, and much more!
Your dedication in the weeks and months leading up to event Weekend will culminate in our 2-Day celebration and 60km walk on September 8-9, 2012.
A Weekend You'll Never Forget!
Day One (Saturday)
The energy and enthusiasm build on Saturday morning as Walkers assemble for check-in, enjoy a continental breakfast, and warm-up with stretching before the inspirational Opening Ceremonies. During Ceremonies, we’ll commemorate those who have lost their battle to cancer and celebrate the lives that are being saved because of your participation.
The walk then begins as you journey approximately 32km through some of the most beautiful and interesting areas of Toronto. Along the way, you’ll be fully supported with pit stops, snacks, hydration stations, relaxing lunch, cheering crowds, and staff to ensure your safety.
The day’s walk ends upon arrival at camp where you’ll be cheered-in by supporters. But the fun doesn’t stop there! You will enjoy a relaxing massage, a hot catered dinner, and medical TLC, if required. Plus, you’ll enjoy entertainment including a lively runway show and dancing until lights out. Not to mention extra special entertainment to recognize the amazing accomplishment of Ten Years Strong, working to end women's cancers! For 2-Day walkers who want to spend the night, an enjoyable camp equipped with hot showers and 2-person tents will be provided.
Day Two (Sunday)
After a hot breakfast, you will enjoy another day of approximately 28km and receive all the same support as on Day One. When you arrive at the finish line you will receive a hero’s welcome from friends, family, and the community who are there to celebrate your amazing achievement…not only for completing 60kms, but also for the difference the money you raised is making in the lives of *their* families and friends affected by women’s cancers. The Weekend concludes with Closing Ceremonies to honor, thank, and celebrate you for your tremendous achievement towards ending ALL women’s cancers.
2-Day Walkers Enjoy the full 2-Day experience and raise at least $2,000 each for The Campbell Family Institute at The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
1-Day Walkers Enjoy the full Day One (Saturday) experience including dinner and entertainment and raise at least $1250 each for The Campbell Family Institute at The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
